About me.

Artist, writer, curator, former professor and non-profit leader. Mom of two smallish, wildly inappropriate girls.

My family and I recently moved to Portugal from the Midwest, leaving behind our beloved front porch and dearest friends. We came to Portugal to grieve, breathe, heal, and dream new dreams.

This newsletter is where I make sense of a few things and complicate others. Like navigating a new culture with little people. Hunting for the best pastel de nata. Transracial parenting. Leaving room for astonishment. Deconstructing faith. Raging at patriarchy. Creeping on art.

The whole mess of it.

Why subscribe?

Join a community of readers and writers wading into the mess. Asking the same questions. Tugging at the same threads. Creating something new, together.

Don’t miss a thing. Every latest post goes straight from my pen right to to your inbox, pronto presto.

Why Substack?

I’m choosing to publish here so I can avoid the lining the pockets of those baby-faced man childs. You know who.

This here is by us, for us. Power to the pen-wielding people!
